I am interested in buying an iPod Touch, however it is very expensive for me – is it worth it to buy a refurbished/used iPod Touch, or should I just save for a while longer to buy a new one?

A refurbished iPod Touch means that the INSIDE has used components, but the OUTSIDE is brand new.
Although the inside components are used, they are wiped clean by Apple and are basically new again except for the fact that they have been used before.
However, the outside is brand new.
Apple makes sure all the hardware inside is fully working, and in good shape before putting it for sale as a refurbished item.
Therefore, you do not have to worry about a refurbished iTouch. It is a good way of purchasing someting you like for a cheaper price.
You still get warranty for it too =]
It’s really up to you whether or not you want to wait to get a new iPod TOuch. However, the new iTouch will eventually become like the refurbished ones after a few cycles.

Yes if you go through apple. You save about 40 dollars and you still get the same amount of quality. The battery may not last as long, but its worth it.
